BATTLEGROUND

Airsoft in the YubaCity / Marysville area.

I am going to buy a gun for the Missions day. Is an AGM Full Stock Spring Shotgun a good choice for $30. If I do buy this I would also buy some .25 BB with it.

Jesse, first let me say that you get what you pay for. An airsoft shotgun is a great starter weapon, and a great tool for CQB, not to mention its low price. However, it will be difficult to compete with operators wielding KWA assault rifles until you purchase a long rifle of your own. That being said, I personally think that every operator should own a shotgun, due to its practicality and realism factor. In real steel, a shotgun is your go-to weapon for hunting, home defense, CQB, and many other applications.

I'm not sure about AGM. Externally, the gun looks cool, but for $20 more or so, you can get a UTG M3 or one of its many clones and rebrands from companies like Double Eagles or Bravo. The M3 is more expensive, but fires three BBs in every shot, more accurately simulating the spread of a shotgun's pellets. It is also quite reliable, with few moving parts, and uses a reliable, cool-looking, and semi-realistic magazine shaped like a shotgun shell. If you want to keep the price down, and make the gun more compact for CQB and easy transport, get a model without a shoulder stock.

The AGM fires only BB in each shot, and it's box-style magazine holds only fourteen rounds. The M3 and its clones have magazines that hold 8-10 shots of 3 BBs. With shotshells, you can get a bandolier or shell holder to carry additional shell-mags right on the gun itself, creating a simple, self-contained weapon system. I got a 5-shell holder at Sportsman's Warehouse for about $5. It dramatically increased the speed of reloading.

Here are some links to the various versions of the M3.

No stock, pistol grip (Terminator style!):

Extra shells, because the one or two that the gun comes with won't be enough:

Stock-mounted shell holder, because you don't want to waste time fumbling for your reload in your pocket:

Good luck.

Thanks for the help!
