Hey Ill be going tomorrow and I can drive if necessary I somehow dont have your number though if you can hit me up let me know where your meeting up. 5303888818
And yeah, sure I'll do an orienteering lesson. I've taught it hundreds of times.
But, I always used USGS contour maps. Aerial photos don't quite do it.
But, seems like the grid for Op Cartwright's Revenge is set up to use UTM-like coordinates, so we can go over that.
Ft. Ord -
*too many players on the field.
*Very little coordination between members of same team
*missions not complex enough for so many players
*lots of waiting, not enough playing (start time at least 1 1/2 hours late)
*sure seemed like a bunch weren't calling their hits, but at some points my group was shooting uphill and upwind - so of course they'd have a range advantage. Definitely, though, there were some who did not call hits.
One cool thing, though, was the 'airstrike' idea. The AO has a map with a grid, and we had one per team who could call in an airstrike/artillery which would kill everyone in the grid zone. There were four per 90 minute period per team to use. *unfortunately, both teams used the same radio channel to call it in... And, everyone yelled out that it was coming, instead of using the radios. Basically, lack of communication reduced the effectiveness of the airstrike. Also our teams were not prepared with a strategy to move into a cleared area, anyway...
I might go again if I go with a team. But not if there is a Cimmerian OP the same day.
Just wanted to thank you for putting on a nice event everybody was cool and I had a really good time. One of the guys lent me his walkietalkie and I just realized now that I still have it. Thanks again for the great weekend
