SUMMARY:GROZNY BLUE (formerly Silver Strike) by Cimmerians
DESCRIPTION:GROZNY BLUE hosted by Cimmerians.\nWas named Silver Strike
 . Changed.\nI don't know why, and it doesn't matter.\nNow it's a Russi
an OP! Spetznaz!\nNorth Truckee Area.\n$10 field donation.\nBegins at
 0800 hours.\nSaturday, January 16th, 2010\n\nJAN 1994 - The First Batt
le of Grozny was the Russian Army's invasion and subsequent conquest o
f the Chechen capital, Grozny, during the early months of the First Ch
echen War. The attack lasted from December 1994 to March 1995. The ini
tial assault resulted in very high federal casualties and an breakdown
of morale in the Russian forces. Heavy usage of Spetznaz units broke
the back of the Chechen forces. This Cimmerian OP will focus on a key
battle for the Shushskaya power station. Initially occupied and system
atically destroyed by a Chechen strike team and re-taken by Spetznaz.
This key power station supplied Grozny with power. The Battle of Grozn
y caused enormous destruction and casualties amongst the civilian popu
lation and saw the heaviest bombing campaign in Europe since World War
II.\n\nAs always we expect operators to do their best to wear a milit
ary uniform.\n\nThe Corps will be RUSSIAN:\nUniforms:\nRussian: Woodla
nd patterns, Russian camo, ACU\nChechen militia: OD, snow, mixed other
s\n\nOperations on Snow: Be advised that this is a snow OP. Snow shoes
are very helpful. Skiis are also useful.\n\nChow: There will be a com
munal boiling pot for your hot lunch.\n\nRegister: Send a registration
email to register@cimmerians.net\n\nVidoe Refs –\nWatch the vids an
 d get pumped…\n\nhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9PKS7Po-4sQ\n\nhttp:
//www.youtube.com/watch?v=hjDt57s5Keo\n\n\nThis is an operation in sno
 w. Snow shoes and waterproof clothing are highly recommended. We will
have a significant amount of patrolling and movement to do on the snow
. As many operators can attest, snowshoe are very useful.\n\n\n\nBelow
is the Cimmerians \"Snow Lessons\", for insights into operations in S
now.\n\nSnow Ops: Lessons Learned\nVehicles:\nEach vehicle should have
a good,\nfull-sized shovel, an ice scraper for the windows, and of co
urse, be mechanically sound for cold weather.\nFootwear:\nI noticed th
at most operators made due wearing their combat boots. While their fee
t may not have stayed dry and warm, I believe more appropriate footwea
r would have specialty snow boots. They feature all rubber bottoms tha
t have a super-wide footprint, which is more stable, sinks less with e
ach step, and dryerfor walking in the snow. A few pairs of thick polyp
ropylene socks are essential!\nClothing:\nSimply stated, Goretex is th
e most essential item there is. Every operator without proper clothing
became completely soaked, and at that point, misery becomes your play
mate.\nLong underwear should be worn and when used with the proper clo
thing on the outside is perfect.\nGloves:\nThin insulated gloves are r
ecommended for during the OP, and a thicker pair for travel.\nPolyprop
ylene hat, pullovers and neck gaiter:\nThese are needed for warmth and
insulation, both while operating and in camp. This miracle material i
s the best for warmth, even if you get damp or wet.\nSnowshoes:\nSnows
hoes are an aid to combat ops in the snow. The newer style, aluminum f
ramed devices are lightweight, easy to wear and use, are inexpensive,
and allow the operator to enjoy much of his normal walking mobility- e
ven in the deepest, freshest snow. On slopes and mixed terrain it's no
problem- they provide excellent traction and stability. The advantage
guys with snowshoes have over those without is; the operator who choo
ses to eschew this essential piece of equipment for snow ops is settin
g himself up to be floundering, slow-moving, self-actuated shooting ta
rget.\n\nWith a modest investment in the above-described equipment and
clothing, operators can enjoy many years of comfortable operating in
the snow.\n\nFor more information visit https://airsoftbattleground.ni
