Desert Fox Fields proudly presents Operation: Shifting Sands II. This game is the sequel to DFF’s ground breaking Military Simulation operation, and will set the new standard for MilSim games.
Drawing on the real-world experience of DFF Staff, we will be re-creating an Afghan town caught in the middle of the Global War on Terror, with tribal warfare as a back drop. Whether you choose to be a member of the US Special Forces, the Afghan National Army, or a militant from Al-Qaeda, you are guaranteed to have an explosive and eye-opening game experience.
Scenario:
Situated near the Afghan-Iran border, the town of Bozorg-Shemsh is no stranger to violence. Located in the Farah province, Bozorg-Shemsh is the stepping stone to the strategic Shindand Airfield. The town has known strife and struggle for countless generations. It has traded hands between Tajik, Pashto, Uzbek, and Safavid for more than 400 years. During the Soviet-Afghan War, the province was the capital of the communist movement. During the Taliban era, the town, as well as the rest of the province, was left largely alone, mostly due to their distance from any large population center.
Since the War on Terrorism began, the town has been subject to numerous Coalition airstrikes, but there have been precious few soldiers on the ground. Control of the Shindad Airfield not only means control of local airspace, but it also provides a staging point for any follow attacks into Iran. The Pashtun majority population is not supportive of Coalition efforts. For this reason, Coalition commanders have sent in a specially selected force. Two US Special Forces A-Teams have been sent in, reinforced by a company of Afghan National Army Commandos from the 207th Corps based out of Heart, to the north. It is hoped that this combination of skilled counter-insurgency operatives, given legitimacy by such a large group of Afghans, can stem the tide of Taliban control in the town, and ultimately give control of the strategic airfield to NATO forces.
