 Delicias, Colombia - Fhe FARC attacked the Las Delicias military base 
 in the Putumayo department. The Colombian military lost about 54 dead,
  15 wounded and 60 captured. A surprise attack had been carried out at
  night after extensive intelligence gathering, and 15 hours of fightin
 g resulted in the complete destruction of one of the military's rural 
 bases. This attack is usually considered as the beginning of a series 
 of FARC offensives designed to exploit existing vulnerabilities in rur
 al military bases and to showcase the guerrilla groups' strength in th
 e eyes of the GOC (Government of Colombian) during the presidency of E
 rnesto Samper Pizano and the international community. GOC elite forces
  were mobilized in response to these attacks. The FARC's leftist gueri
 lla fighters have considerable capabilities in infantry warfare, cover
 t training by Cuban and Chinese Special Forces elements has been sugge
 sted. US Special Forces were employed in the GOC response as \"advisor
 s\" and \"trainers\" leading covert helo attacks and LRRP type mission
 s against the FARC.\n\n-Base assault/Defense\n- Mounted/Dismounted Pur
 suit and ambush\n- Recovering immobile POW\n- Extraction from hot LZ\n
 \nBDU Uniforms. Suggested headgear to be either a helmet, woodland boo
 nie hat or woodland patrol cap.\n \nFARC (Revolutionary Armed Forces 
 of Columbia): Olive Drab Uniform. Suggested headgear to be either an O
 D boonie hat, OD Patrol cap, or beret (green or black).\n \nMilitary 
 uniforms are required for the whole OP both on and off the field of ba
 ttle. We encourage operators to dress the role, but of course any mili
 tary uniform is allowed. If you have \"both\" bring both, we may need 
 you to adjust force levels otherwise arm bands will be available to de
 signate forces if required\n \nIf you do not have modern gear, no pro
 blem!  We have had several inquiries from participants who want to co
 me to the OP but aren't sure they have an \"authentic uniform\". Don't
  worry! Uniform authenticity is not critical. Attitude is more importa
 nt.  Try your best.  It is easy to put together a uniform at little 
 expense. Do your best, be creative, and that will be fine. If you have
  a full authentic uniform that is great, bring it out and be a star!\n
