 rning and found she had to defend herself. The Six-Day War of June 5-1
 0, 1967 was a war between the Israel army and the armies of the neighb
 oring states of Egypt, Jordan, and Syria. In his speech to Arab trade 
 unionists on May 26, Gamal Abdel Nasser announced: \"If Israel embarks
  on an aggression against Syria or Egypt, the battle against Israel wi
 ll be a general one and not confined to one spot on the Syrian or Egyp
 tian borders. The battle will be a general one and our basic objective
  will be to destroy Israel.\" On June 5, 1967, Israel launched a pre-e
 mptive attack. This claim was, however, disputed by Arab countries tha
 t asserted Israel's strike was an act of aggression. Jordan, which had
  signed a mutual defence treaty with Egypt on May 30, then attacked we
 stern Jerusalem. By the 10th of June, Israel had completed its final o
 ffensive in the Golan Heights, and a ceasefire was signed the day afte
 r. Israel had seized the Gaza Strip, the Sinai Peninsula, the West Ban
 k, and the Golan Heights. Overall, Israel's territory grew by a factor
  of three, including about one million Arabs placed under Israel's dir
 ect control in the newly captured territories. The results of the war 
 affect the geopolitics of the region to this day.\n\nOperation will be
