BATTLEGROUND

Airsoft in the YubaCity / Marysville area.

This was my opinion for them. What do you guys say we should do here?

I am not a member of (team B), however I felt obliged to post. I run an Airsoft field, and have some opinion.
I am for all adults having the right to carry knives. Folding or fixed.
A metal or "real" knife should only be brandished or used by someone over 18, and only then used as a cutting tool. Never should they be employed as a weapon, or used as a toy.
A "knife kill" on the Airsoft field would be the same as a bang kill, however the target should be at no greater than arms length. The action would be no more than getting the target players attention in a
"mature" fashion. A tap of the hand, with the words "bang".
No person, who is in complete control of himself, would make a gesture other than a sigh of humbled disappointment for having let their opponent get that close. As much as we joke of what might happen.
My recommendation, heed it or not, is to allow people to bring a knife as a tool on the field. They may need it for working on their gun, or in other ways that have been mentioned above. The law may state that you must be 18 years of age to carry one, and that anything over 3 1/2 inches may not be concealed. Check with local law enforcement.
For (team B) games, I would not recommend allowing "knife" kills (metal or rubber), for the fact that your games are so large, and draw from such a varied spectrum of players. From first timers to veterans of the sport, teams and individuals, adults and young kids who don't have the control or understanding.
Then again, it's up to you. This is your club.

I think that if we were to ban knife kills, Scramble would be very depressed and pouty. He worked hard for his 2 knife kills last game.
I think knife kills are just one more way of adding to the atmosphere of the game. NEVER do I think a real knife should ever be used during a game regardless of if it is sharp or not. Even if the individual is “careful” it still looks bad and is unnecessarily dangerous to all players. Rubber knives are a different matter and I feel they are just another dimension to the game. A knife kill is essentially a bang kill but it gives the player the option of being silent instead of whispering bang which is silly considering you are saying that you just shot them, “quietly”.
Hey Scramble, if you ever try and knife kill me I will spin around and brake your arm in 3 places, I just don't think I could control myself....Hehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehe......I'll do it to.

Yes Yes, this does sound a little childish, but the truth of the matter is, that if someone were to be able to sneak up on you and lay their knife, gun barrel, or even hand on your shoulder you should be man enough to say, "WOW", that was a true feet of skill and not some situation that you and all your training could get you out of. I have been training in martial arts, fencing, heavy combat since I was a kid and I know for a fact, if someone gets behind you, and you are unaware of them, they can kill you at their discretion. Point in fact, my 7 year old daughter could slip a knife between your rids as easlily as I or anyone else could. The point is this, if someone is able to get that close without you knowing it, start looking around more, run with guys that will watch your back, or just except it and re-spon, this should not be an issue. Respect is key, if you don't respect the people you are playing with or the "weapons" they have then what is the point of this game that we play regardless of how real we attempt to make it. We are airsofters, this is not life or death, for if it was, things would be different, very different. Make no mistakes, this is a game. A kill is a kill, weather it is at 3 feet or 300 feet. Knives are weapons that have been used since the dawn of time, for a reason. They make usefull tools and great killing weapons when applied in the correct manor. Real knives on the field, just be responcible, they are not toys so don't play with them as if they were. Rubber knives on the field, just be responcible, they are toys but still use them with the respect and caution that they deserve. Don't be trying to make an eye-shot with one when it is un-necessary. Lay it on their sholder, let them know you are there by some means that the situation deems acceptable and play on. BE RESPONCIBLE.
