Event Description

Caravan leaving Draex Field at 0400.
Saturday June 20th!
This is a Cimmerian hosted OP.
We will be attending the Saturday of a 3 day OP. (19, 20, 21)
You must be 18+ year old.
You must register at their website.
The field fee is $20. Bio's required*.

CIMMERIANS will be partnering with: The Marine Corps Historical Association which is organized to promote the history of the Marine Corps, and Navy Corpsman, to youth. The MCHA educates though living history and participates in public displays to provides the public with an accessible connection to the past.

Operations will include:
- Keyhole Reconnaissance and Counter Reconnaissance
- Pursuit and ambush
- Attack and defend
- Re-supply under fire
- Ordered disengagement due to “foreign boarders”

AO: near to Boggs Mountain, CA
Vietnam Hué, Republic of South Vietnam, 25-28 February 1968, the Tet Offensive. After nearly a month of occupation, the NVA and Viet Cong had lost control of the city. Elements of 4th Battalion Vietnam Marines, US 5th Marines, a single Reconnaissance Company attached to the local MACV Headquarters, the 1st Cavalry Division and the 1st Brigade, 101st Airborne had driven the attackers into the jungles and mountains south of the city. On the morning of the 26feb68, 2nd Battalion 5th Marines continued the attack to clear the ridgeline.

The OP location has changed according to the email I got from command. These are the new directions I was given. It is past Placerville near Pollack Pines. Directions below.

1] From I-80 East bound
2] At Sacramento stay on the "Capitol Freeway" I-50 tpward South Lake Tahoe
3] Continue on US-50 E 62.8 mi
4] Turn left at Ice House Rd 0.6 mi connector
5] Turn right to stay on Ice House Rd 9.75 mi
6] You will see the "CIMM" paper plate makrers at the LEFT turn into the staging area.
[if you get to the crossing w/ the "HELOPAD" sign you have gone too far]

5-5 is the FRS radio freq to call for assistance at the AO.
