As of 2300 hrs on Wednesday July 29th.
We had to be Registered/Paid by Friday the 31st.

Diamond Corps HK Team: Komissar, Scramble, Flapjack, Tank, Psycho Medic, and Kattiana.

Thank you to Steve McGee from the last Cimm OP who offered to join us or hold the spot for us.

Operators have fees have been paid. Tank you need to talk to FlapJack.
Waivers have been signed. T-shirts ordered are 3 x Medium, 3 x Large.

Now we get to work on what to bring. Ideas?
Request for a second team is a possibility. Hi-cap, Phoenix, and Steve McGee are still interested. Any takers?
FAQ's
Q: Where's the AO?
A: The AO is in the ElDorado National Forest. The closest landmarks are Union Valley and Ice House Reservoirs. It is located between Reno NV and Sacramento CA, just west of South Lake Tahoe.

Q: How large are the Teams?
A: All teams will be made of six participants

Q: When will the missions be posted?
A: All participants will receive a Mission Packet upon arrival, which includes maps, Zones, and Objectives.
Only registered RT and HK will receive coordinates at D-2. This is to stop day-players from showing up expecting that it is a pick-up game, when in fact it is a National Invitational.

Q: What kind of distance are covering from start to end?
A: The AO is 1,000+ acres and is divided into 6 Recon Zones

Q: How are we going to operate across that distance?
A: Each Zone has a different Objective. Every RT must find and report all six Objectives by moving in and out of each Zone. Each RT shall begin the Challenge in a different Zone. Each Zone will contain two HK teams.

Q: Can I use Night Vision, Ghillie Suits, etc.?
A: There is no uniform/dress restriction. Wear/carry what you want to get the mission accomplished.

Q: Is GPS allowed?
A: GPS is not permitted for RT's. Reconners need to find Objectives the "old fashioned" way, using map and compass. That's the main point of the competition. HK may use GPS.

Q: How are SALUTE's delivered?
A: By radio to Base.

Q: Do we need to use bio-degradable bbs or are normal allowed?
A: Bio BB's only. This is National Forest, the use of Bios will be strictly enforced.

Q: What if I don't have Bio BB's?
A: Bios will be available for sale at the Challenge for those who need them.

FPS/Engagement Distance Standards:
AEG'S (Airsoft Electric Gun) are required to chronograph NO FASTER than 400 fps with .20 gram bb's.
(MINIMUM Engagement 20-feet)
Semi auto/ Bolt action Sniper rifles are required to chronograph NO FASTER than 600 fps with .20 gram bb's.
(MINIMUM Engagement 50-feet)
FAQs2
Please remember that this is a 2-day event. Trophy, prizes, etc are given out after the competition is over on Sunday. There will be a trophy for the winning reconner team and a wooden engraved plaque for the most successful hunter killer team.
The National Reconners Challenge is an annual event. We are getting responses from AZ to Canada. Likely, 2010 will see the Challenge in Oregon.
You'll need your rifle and ammo too. The course involves 6 objectives, while you're being hunted. You get points for staying hidden, but if you get spotted you may defend your team so you keep as many points as possible.

Q: Can I use Night Vision, Ghillie Suits, etc.?
A: There is no uniform/dress restriction. Wear/carry what you want to get the mission accomplished. However, GPS is not permitted for RT's. Reconners need to find Objectives the "old fashioned" way, using map and compass. That's the main point of the competition. Wink

Rules on GPS:
HK can use GPS
RT cannot use GPS

Recon teams will need to be equipped for the whole time. That means:

Cammie paint
Eyewear
Rifle and ammunition
Magazines
Pad/pencil
Binoculars
Radio
Rucksack
Poncho liner (or other way to keep warm/covered)
Spare Socks
Food
Water

Q: How are SALUTE's delivered?
A: By radio to Base.

However, points are given for notes taken in the field. After the operations are conducted all TL/ATL notebooks are collected so that each RT may have points adjusted for correct land nav notes, drawings, etc.

RT's are on their own. All other contact is to be considered hostile enemy. (even other RT's)

Radio report for RTs
S = size
A = activity
L = location
U = uniform
T = time
E = equipment

or the fast under fire report = SALT - size, activity, location, time

HK teams will have a specific patrol order and coordinates to stay within their Zone.
HK teams will have a rotating patrol times- at least one patrol needs to be in the Zone at all times.
They can radio other HK teams if they spot a RT in another Zone--or if a RT is moving form one Zone to another.
HK can wear anything
HK can carry anything (including GPS)
HK just needs to focus on finding RT's and shooting them

It's a recon competition, with objectives that need to be reached by a certain time and in a specific order. Some objectives may be very close to one another, but points will be deducted if a RT reports the wrong objective. (this is a test of actual recon skills- ie map/compass)

The winning RT team gets a trophy, the winning HK team gets an engraved plaque. The sponsor merchandise is distributed to the winners as well. There is only 1st place, no second place. RT's are in competition with all other RT's as well as HK teams.

RT's get points for:
Staying alive
Submitting complete and accurate SALUTE's
Reaching all Objectives in the correct order

HK's get points for:
Reporting (by radio) as many recon sightings as possible
Capturing RT kill markers (a card carried on a RT member)

Info compiled from various posts-Komissar
Confirmation of registration and payment at 1600 hrs on Thursday, July 30th.
What happens if you get shot, how are Respawns done, are we still using the 2m-3m or is there something new?
Message from NRC at 1500hrs on Friday, July 31st.

Komissar,
The numbers are not looking good though for the cutoff.
I have 7 DC members paid and 1 RT CAG member.
That's only eight.

Wade

If this does not go through, we can go to the Truckee Airsoft Game with night OP and pistol competition. Same dates.
Sounds great, Komissar! I'm glad you got a team and registered. Regardless of what's on some of the boards, there is interest and some other teams are formed.

Two younger people have PM me. That would mean (at least to me) that I would need 3 more older and experienced players to make a team. Maybe one of the experienced Reno guys might be interested?

I registered as Recon today. (I'm sure any details can be worked out later).
There is hope yet my friend. We may yet see you on the field. Of course, if your Recon . . . maybe not! Hehe.
The game has been cancelled..... Too short notice, I think.

I'd be SO into doing something like this, though. Has Diamond Corps ever hosted a long OP? Or have any of you gone to one before?
We had 12 people who prepaid for this event. With only 2 out of the 6 recon team slots being filled. (And the two teams didn't have all of their member slots filled)(Eight of these 12 were Diamond Corps members)

Refunds will begin shortly. Thanks to everyone who got their money in promptly........you guys are AWESOME.

We are looking for feed back within this thread for next year.

From the experience Jeremy, Roger and I have gleaned from this is that you cannot make everyone happy. Sliding the event south to it's present location was an honest attempt by us to make it as centralized as possible.

But moving the event south, lost us attendee's in the north. How many is unknown because this happened long before a pre pay deadline occured. Although there are several team's that said they would come if the location was right, and I believe them. Overall though we got alot of lip service for this event and nothing else.

Which is understandable, this event IS NOT for the faint of heart. It's one thing to be top dog on the airsoft field with your cmag and lipo and something entirely different to be lost in millions of acres of national forest. People need to make an honest appraisal of themselves before giving a verbal commitment to such an endeavor as this. (I am not talking to everyone here..........you know who you are)

With all that said, it is our opinion that we are going to attempt to run this again next year. But next year it is going to be held in the Pac NW. This also will give the recon team's time to properly recruit and train for this event. By next spring registration will be open and the AO will be set in stone (but not fully disclosed for reasons of fairness. We don't want any recon taking place of the AO prior to the event).

Komissar: Sorry troops. I know how disappointed you all are. I for one will aim my sights on Truckee, where perhaps we may yet find a worthy opponent. Grrr.
It is obvious what happened here. Seven of the most bad*** operators known to man signed up to hunt and kill anything in their path, and the word got out. Heh. They can run, but they will only die tired.

Honorable mention for those commited:

FlapJack
Scramble
Tank
Dwarf
Psycho Medic
Hi-cap
Kattiana
Komissar

The Honor is all ours!
yeah had to be that the word got out and the organizers thought it would be way too challenging to face us so they had to cancel thats my theory
