I've been doing my own gearbox work for over a year now and haven't screwed them up yet. But for this build I will require...outside advice and opinion I guess. I'm putting together a sniper's AEG made from a ASGI G4a5 SP16 and so far ive got a 150+ft accurate range on a non windy day with .27 biovals. So what I'm looking for is more range...I shouldnt be in range if I'm acting as a sniper. Any advice would be helpful. I just looked at the holy grail for a DMR build and am gonna try some of those techniques before the next mission day. But any internal part advice or upgrade is most welcome and appreciated.
Notes: only upgrade so far is a 509mm KM 6.04 TBB and a firefly bucking.

Its interesting to see the abbreviation fps used so often.
In photography its "frames per second"
For games (PC and consoles) its "first person shooter"
And in airsoft it is "Feet per second"
So would it be fair to say using physics that for distance a higher FPS would mean the ability to travel at a further distance?
And for argument for field use a 420 fps powered single shot sniper rifle would be allowed wheres a 420 powered carbine semi automatic would not be allowed (and of course this depends on the operator)

Snipers don't have an FPS, but for a DMR or a sniper's AEG it's great.
Forward grips would be used for weapons with full-auto. Unusual for a DMR or sniper's weapon.
The foregrip was for carrying cause it didnt have a carry handle but i ditched it. Ill just toss it on my shoulder.
Bluewolf i kinda got the same feeling with rpm.
rounds per minute & rotations per minute.
And technically no you would not need a higher fps to go farther. Its all in the spin. Fps does give more range but the accuracy drops dramatically. VSR-10s by tm are like 280 fps and are still considered the best bolt action snipers.
Yeah im still looking for the balance. Im gonna have to replace the spring i took out cause the one in it no is cutting the range down by 40ft. Im really hoping ill have it running for the missions day.
Yep, Sarge has build himself a rather nice bolt action, and knows a lot about internals.
Ziggy: What spring do you have in currently? I typically use an SP120, which keeps my FPS under 400. is your AEG currently acting overpowered? Scramble had put a 400 spring in his carbine a few years back and he had absolutely no accuracy over about 50 feet, but he could really peel bark at that range. He quickly changed it back to a 120. That spring would also drain his battery in about 400 rounds, due to trying to pull the heavier spring. Higher FPS is not always so good.
Hope to see you on the field tomorrow!© 2024 Created by Komissar. Powered by
