BATTLEGROUND

Airsoft in the YubaCity / Marysville area.

First and foremost, thank you to all Veterans for your service in keeping our country free.

Thank you all who came to our November Missions Day! We were blown away by the number of people out there. My guestimates put it at around 55 to 60 operators! It's been a long time since I have seen that many good people out on the field at once.

To start the day, I had devised a short orienteering challenge which 4 teams got through, with the top two teams at 5:24 and 7:44. Thank you to those who gave it a go, and sorry for those who were not able to. It was a test, and I would love to see some feedback on that one.

Our first mission was nearly 30 on 30. Each team had a Recon, and a Base Demo. Red team needed to take the Ammo from the Wagon, and Blue needed to deliver the Radio to Red 2. After 30 minutes of hard fighting, the Blue Team managed to make it into Red 2 with the radio. 15 minutes later, Red team snuck the bomb into Blue Base. Try as they might though, neither team was able to secure their other objective and the game was called at 1 hour. Afterwards, many operators took a well deserved break for lunch.

After swapping sides, our second mission saw both teams with hostages, as well as 2 additional objectives. Both teams started out strong, but after 45 minutes, the victory was in Red Team's hands. Blue team fought hard, but was cornered into President's Rock. Once there, they found them selves rooted. I think Red team would have been hard pressed to dig them out.

Several Operators had to leave, so we scaled down the missions and re-worked the teams a bit. Red team's mission? Hold out as long as possible while keeping Red 1 and Red 2 out of Blue hands. The catch? They only have 2 respawns. Blue team's objectives were simple enough. Pry Reds 1 and 2 out of Red Team's cold dead hands. They were the unending horde with unlimited respawns at the Silo. After what was likely an hour of battle, Red team was finally uprooted and victory went to Blue.

After another exodus of Operators, we did our standard base assaults starting at Silo and ending at Red Base. A great way to end the day!

I was surprised at the amount of operators at this event as well. I haven't been able to make it out for the past 5 months so it was good to get right back into it with so many honorable players. One couldn't ask for a better missions day. A lot of the younger players seem to be learning and are willing to listen even in the middle of a firefight. I would like to see more people like that at the Diamond Corp field. These are the kids that will be playing this game in the future so we need to have the patience to teach them what we learned and pass on the idea of honorable gameplay and integrity. This sport has no room for liars or cheats so we need to try and pass these lessons on to the youth! Sorry, that wasn't an AAR but I felt like that needed to be said! Next op here we come!

I'm sorry I couldn't be there, but at least my family is no longer throwing up :).  Next time!

I've been wanting to try that assault on Red 1 and 2 for a long time now. It lived up to, and went beond my expectations. The orienteering challenge is a very good idea, but it needs more of a combat feel to it. When neither side can die, it lost the feel of exitement. I think that it should be definently tryed again, I really like the idea. Mabye set up something like the tag game with 3 or 4 courses and the same number of teams trying to finish their course and relay the final peice of info to silo. Let us know in advance also, so we can all bring compasses.

Once you get into President's Rock, its extremely hard to get pushed out, what I'd like to see is either some trenches up there, or a full blown base, I would love to come up with a shovel some time and just dig up there
