BATTLEGROUND

Airsoft in the YubaCity / Marysville area.

Question: How do you think Reconners should promote thier events?

Roger Muller of the MCHA (Marine Corps Historical Association) has had a difficult time launching an event in our area. For all the mil-sim enthusiasts who have begged for an event of this type it is still not coming together. For this reason, and to assist in promoting any future opportunities of this nature, I have asked for your opinion in this matter.

The Challenges haven't garnered the support from the areas as they had hoped it would have.

While the MCHA does need a fundraiser, they are unsure if this venue is the way to go. If you are aware of any other groups that would be interested in
the Challenges, Roger Muller is more than willing to make it happen. He has secured
1,000 acres of land for this use on March 26-28.

There are so many Airsofters who call themselves "Recon" or "Special Forces" and this would be a great way for them to put their reputation
on the line in a competition designed just to test recon-ability and
search/destroy tactics.

Maybe they should just call it the "slinging bb's contest" and see if people
will just come out for some hi-cap, drum mag, spray and pray slug-fest?
Even though so many people consider themselves "mil-sim" we know that there
are too few of us out there.

You can find his site at the following link. http://www.mycorps.us/index.html

In what areas do you think promotion for these events need improvement?

Though I cringe to mention it, AEX would have to be on board for any advertising. And since most of those folks think that Galt Field is the bee's knees... I am not entirely sure that the majority of the local airsoft community is mature for what the MCHA has to offer.

On another note,I have checked out the website and might consider a vacation to Washington summer of 2011.
i was tinkin the same thing also about the vacation too probably inviting certian groups for the first op and probably planning it 6 months to a year before the op would be good to for a major event maybe giving cimmerians and tiger claw a call letting them know of the event might get a better turn out

Roger needs to meet people. One reason nobody risks signing up and committing to the events is nobody has ever met him. If he came to Draex, LZ-5, Cimmerians, Ft. Ord, and 559 he'd easily promote the events. But, I know he's not really into any of those fields - except possibly Cimmerians.
Most places just do pick up games only few places play milsim like Mike Force, Fort Ord, and Cimmerians. Sproket LZ 5 don't have full milsim games they feel more like pickup games. At least that is my experience of that field.
I wrote on the Airsoft Recon board to Roger what I thought he could do to increase enrollment. I also posted info on the BAAL and Fresno Airsoft forums. Hopefully he'll get interest, but seems like the majority of BAAL guys don't travel for events.

I think the best promotion will be to show up at a field and demonstrate his strong game ethics, real experience and overall character, plus tell people directly about the ROE, which is pretty unique (and cool).
