BATTLEGROUND

Airsoft in the YubaCity / Marysville area.

I am opening an AAR for Radix. I haven't time at the moment to add my opinions, but I wanted to hear what you had to say about it. Please keep the one liners.

1) I am looking for an informed understanding of how operations worked from communication, to command, to the field.

2) Your ideas concerning the missions each force was given, and how they were (or should have been) carried out.

3) Your ideas for future improvements on both administration and scenario.

liked it was fun and interesting really sent our team into hell and back
This was by far the most interesting and engaging mission I have played at Draex.

1) I found that being part of a fire team required me to stay within sight at least one other member of the fire team so that if/when orders were received, I was not left behind. Overall, communication was fairly clear; however, I noticed that the fire team leaders did not preface any command to move with instructions to stay within eyesight of one another. Some people broke off and were not seen again for long periods of time.
a) I think that giving the fire team leader a radio would have been beneficial, but this would have required some of those newer radios with "direct call". This might also be overkill.

2) I think the missions were appropriate for the experience level of the operators. They were basic, but it still gave a very real "sense of purpose" as opposed to the generic hunter/killer firing lines that some missions devolve into. I enjoyed that the missions were not necessarily"balanced" via terrain (r.e. Tank commanding us to "right flank and push forward" over presidents rock).... Hi-Cap and Eric had at least four of us pinned for the majority of that last firefight over the top. Many times the thought crossed our mind "well, why can't we go over in THAT direction??"....well, because your commander didn't say so!

3) Administration: no say.
Scenario: Not just unbalanced missions, but maybe an unbalanced force. Possibly with two commanders: the one with the larger force making a "move" on the map which is visible to both commanders; the commander with the smaller force being able react/move but this would not be visible to the other commander. That might be overly complex, though. How these basic missions played out, however, was very enjoyable. Breaking up into fire teams was pretty neat, too. I could even see a sniper team break off, whose mission is to "kill" the VIP. Endless opportunities.
It is one of those games where I wish I was there for the whole thing. I will be there for the next game and I will be fully loaded and hopefully nothing to stop me from going. The part I did make was super awesome and I hope to be there for another one soon.
