BATTLEGROUND

Airsoft in the YubaCity / Marysville area.

Cimmerian OP Dragon Rouge (Red Dragon) was held near Alta, Calif.

Diamond Corps was represented by ten operators:
Scramble, FlapJack, Tank, Dwarf, Edric, Blaze, Hi-Cap, Kattiana, Ferge, and Komissar.
Running in two teams, the Corps performed admirably, by use of well practiced communication, and high mobility. This was easily one of the most formidable groups we have brought to bear.

The Cimmerian OP was, in my opinion, not up to par. It lacked in operation, which was somewhat understandable considering the last minute accomidations they were forced to make.

The pure enjoyment of being with good friends on a strong, well trained team, made it great for me as the last team OP of the year. See you in 2010.

agreed somethings were not really far but as the corp we just tough it out and get the objective done... oorah
I want to say how much of a pleasure it was to play with everyone of my brothers and sisters in arms on the same team! Dwarf, it was great to see you out again, don't be a stranger if you can help it! Hi-Cap, its great to have you back brother! Kattiana it is always a pleasure to see you on the field! Ferge, Komissar, Scramble, FlapJack, and Tank, it was fantastic as usual!

This may not have been the best run OP, but it was still good fun!
I will begin by saying that overall everything went smooth.
FIRST MISSION - Find the package and then move to Hotel Hill.
I felt that we delayed in dividing into fireteams which made order and direction impossible. We were slow and meandering in moving out, which again left us no opportunity to search for the package. When we did get to Hotel Hill, we finally had two teams and Ferge went about setting up the defense which resulted in the annihilation of the Paras who had already recovered the package.
SECOND MISSION - Defend Hotel Hill.
Initially we were out of position because one team had begun to move out in search of the package. The remaining team was only slightly out of position due to their enthusiasm following the massacre of the Paras in the Humvee. Both teams quickly consolidated ready for the continued attack. This is where it fell apart.
With poor radio communication, and prior planning, the team was soon shattered and re-spawning in multiple locations.
The main foothold was pushed back without knowing if reinforcements would arrive. Flanking Troops could not be reached because they had no radios and/or worked in a team without one. This is ridiculous. Finally separated and without communication we never quite were able to retake Hotel Hill. This was not entirely the fault of the Corps operators, one of whom was shot in the back by OPCOM on his own team.
THIRD MISSION - Hold the hill above the Jeep.
Although we lost our center early on, it was never exploited by the enemy. Communication, positioning, and strategy were sound. Again thanks to Ferge and our team being seasoned operators, we took up strong positions quickly. This location was held to the very end. The only failure was again in communication, where a non-Corps team member came around behind and fired killing two of our troops before being silenced by FlapJack's calm shot. This incident has many stories to it.
MISSION FOUR - Ambush the Humvee
I was not present at the ambush site, but could oversee it from my position on the hill above the Jeep. Scramble and Edric reported that the enemy was unable to move past them in their position. Awaiting details.
MISSION FIVE - Despite that the mission began before our team could hoof it uphill to where we were to start; I don't believe we were expected to gain the agent operative before the enemy Paras did. So we didn't. By the time we gained our start position, the flare had been fired, and soon after the agent was found by the opposing forces who then had to get him to safety near the railroad tracks.
Our fire-teams again acted perfectly. One moved hard and fast up the hill to take and hold the position at the railroad tracks. The other moved to engage the enemy attempting to transport the agent. Both teams worked in unison flanking and maneuvering to keep the transport crew on the retreat. In the end the Humvee made a distracting dash for the tracks while the escort on foot took the agent out through the woods. Our team who engaged the Humvee pressed the enemy until they were forced to make the dash they were unprepared for. The team who took the railroad tracks met and ambushed the Humvee and the escort as they tried to make their escape. The enemy was stopped dead in their tracks by combined effort and good communication.
MISSION SIX - Ambush and counter-ambush.
I don't see that these were run as challenging objectives, so much as they were a last chance for operators to have one last big shootout. This aside, I thought we did well. Our road column came together with some encouragement. By simple numbers we pressed through the ambush. We initially had to stay on the road which would have made it take longer, but by flanking into the woods on our right we swept our opponent. On the counter-ambush we were told to set up on the road. The enemy came through the woods wisely avoiding the road. We had superior numbers and a prepared position. It was fun, but not tactical.
CONCLUSION - We need to insure that our troops carry radios or stay within sight of someone who has communication.
I was impressed with how smooth things ran for us. We impressed our opponents too.
