Event Description

In the wake of Project Mayhem the govt of the United States has fractured and broken. 10 years of natural disasters, civil war, and chaos have turned the former United states into a 3rd world country. Unrest racks the once great nation. In the former state of California 3 factions have emerged to try to gain control of the lands belonging to the former state of California.
The New California Republican Guard - As Southern California Fell one man emerged and seized control of the lower half of the state, Clint Eastwood rallied what was left of the Local military and warring gangs, turning them into his own fighting force. He intendes to hold The State together in an effort to re-establish the former "Legitamite" government.
The Golden Bear Army - Starting as a group of former farmers, militia, and and discontents, the GBA has become a power by Advocating a return to Democracy and self sufficiency, but on a small level that would make Cali powerful but leave the rest of the former nation to its self,
The Confederated Californian Counties - The CCC wants a strong Nation, but living in California, that is where they intend to start. They believe that democracy has failed and a new power needs to arise in the lands of the former USA. They are highly organized and almost fanatical in their beliefs.

Step into the boots of one of these Factions. Opress or Enlighten your oposition. We are Looking for about 30 Operators who want to have some fun, put them selves in odd situations and look at the world from a slightly post-apocalyptic angle.

Weapon Load Outs and Equipment Will be restricted for some scenarios through out the day. Shotguns, Pistols and SMGs are HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

1 Faction will Be wearing Civilian Style Clothing, That's Blue Jeans and T-Shirts OR Solid BDUs (NO Camo)

Comment by SCRAMBLE on September 27, 2012 at 9:45am: Relax Porter, this is a fun apocalyptic OP, the goal is to "look at the world from a slightly post-apocalyptic angle". The Apocalypse is generally an uncomfortable thing, consider yourself blessed that your experiences at this OP will be more "uncomfortable" than the other operators - you get more game out of it. You will have a good time, just like everyone else.

I have to admit at this event im worried about exactly that, as this is my first time going to BATTLEGROUND/DRAKES FIELD (edited by moderator), I will be lacking in knowlage of the players around me, i will also be fighting on new terrain which isnt that much of a problem, its more the fact that i dont know how the rest of my team will fight. Im definetly trying to leave a good first impression at this event, i dont want to be one of the lowest scoring players there, im usually at the top at all the wars and skirmishes ive gone to before and while i know this is the next step up i hope to still be a dangerous adversary. I'm just scared i wont be able to do that.

He doesn't explain in the backstory as to why only light guns so we have to assume that perhaps in the OP itself there's reasons for it. Besides, if you have access to a reliable SMG shotgun or pistol, wouldn't it be fun to test yourself and push yourself outside your comfort zone?

But to address your point more directly, think of it this way: In the new show Revolution electricity is gone from human hands and in the opening scenes you see that factions have stockpiled weapons (showing piles of AK-47's in crates) but in the meat of the show everyone has either bad ass trench knifes or muzzle loading cap lock rifles (think Civil War). Logic doesn't always follow a future world because its all conjecture, theory and hope/fear. What if in the days following the bank explosions (see I remember Fight Club all to well) the US government seized all the weapons they could from the citizens (causing or as a direct result of the Civil Wars that fractured the US) and the only regularly available weapons now are SMG's shotguns and pistols? England restricts private gun ownership but allows hunting rifles and shotguns so a loose assumption can be made that the US let private citizens keep their shotguns (12g shell vs 5.56 has the 5.56 taking the day every day) for hunting purposes. We can't assume based on his backstory that the entire country is as split as California, meaning that a Federal Government, even if its a third world government now, may still exist and has possession of all military style rifles and carbines.

Comment by Phillip "Merlin" Porter on September 27, 2012 at 8:12am: well it makes me ask, why is there a requirement on smgs, shotguns and pistols anyways? because if this is supposed to be a post-apocalyptic theme war, wouldnt a lot of people have rifles too? most people i know who have a gun have rifles, pistols and shotguns, so if there was a civilian uprising there would be a lot more of those weapons than smgs. while its true that not many people have assault rifles i know a lot of hunters in california have carbines, so if the weaponry was to be semi accurate woudnt there be a requirement on pistols, shotguns, rifles and carbines? maybe im over-thinking this, but it just bothers me thats all.
