SNIPER COMPETITION (Updated June 7th)

-The Sniper Competition has been updated to better reflect the interests of those operators who are participating. Thank you for your input, and we hope you enjoy this years competition!

Participants may use bolt-action or DMR AEG's (Gas, Spring or Electric) which will be used on semi-auto. All weapons will be checked by the Marshals to qualify. No Carbines, Shotguns, or Pistols.

You will want to show up at 0800 for check-in and registration for the sniper competition which will begin at approximately 0900.

Here at Diamond Corps, we have been host to several prize competitions such as our Pistol Competition and the three-man Devils’ Run. This month’s event, coupled with our Missions Day, promises another full day of challenge for all operators who attend! You talk the talk, but can you walk the walk?

The competition will begin at Saturday morning, at 9am. To register, simply have a signed waiver on file at check-in and add your name to the list of participants.

SNIPER COMPETITION

Welcome all marksmen to this year’s Sniper challenge! This year we have added an additional phase to your encounter. Competing marksmen will need to demonstrate their ability to get to the target unseen before making the ‘killing shot’. Your ability to pick a line of approach while using the natural terrain to your best advantage will determine your ranking in the shooting phase. Here is that opportunity to use your field craft and guille!

PHASE ONE: Stalking (Updated June 7th)

Registrants will take to the field! Each is required to make his way from the entry point to his chosen position of fire, by any route he chooses within the boundaries. All marksmen will start from the same location and at the same time.

You will move toward the target at your own pace, and to a position allowing you a view of the target. At this point you will radio your intent to fire. A spotter will raise a ‘marker’ which you must properly identify before making your shot.

Points will be awarded according to each stalkers finish place.

Example: Having carefully made the crawl into a well covered position, and having avoided being seen by the spotters, VIPER quietly presses the PITT on his radio.

“Spotter this is VIPER, requesting a marker”.

One of the spotters holds up a marker displaying a large letter and number printed on it, and slowly pans it in the direction of the field.

“Spotter this is VIPER, the marker displayed shows G-7”, again quietly on the radio.

The spotter responds by radio, “Confirmed VIPER, take your shot”.

Taking carful aim through his scope VIPER puts a single round into the target. PING!

A confirmed kill and a success which places VIPER in the shooting phase of the competition.

PHASE TWO: Target Qualification (Updated June 7th)

Only a single operator is needed for all phases of the Sniper Competition. Each operator only needs to register himself.

Each Shooter will attempt to hit six different targets located at increasingly greater ranges beginning at 100 feet. Each shooter will be allowed two shots at each target. If the shooter misses the first shot, he will have 5 seconds to reengage and hit his target on the second shot.

The second shot will score slightly less than the first shot.

All points will be totaled to establish the winner.

this sounds cool I can't wait

Should be a fun event. Push the 'ATTENDING' button!

Is there any requirements on FPS or what is considered a "sniper rifle" ?

Operators must have a bolt action rifle. The bolt action rifles may not fire over 450 FPS.

6 more days, must get ghillie ready... 6 more days must get ghillie ready... 6 more days

I have no bolt action rifle, but i have a sigle shot pump action shotgun. Could i use that?

So DMR and Sniper AEGs are out just to clarify? This is incredibly disappointing guess I'm out. What a drag.

I also wish that the "Bolt Action" rule would have been mentioned earlier.

Well, that's why I asked, the promo picture on the top up there looked a lot like an AEG DMR.After a close scrutiny,it appears that there is a bolt on the the gun.  But I suppose the rule makes enough sense regardless. I mean,if anyone with a long AEG could participate ,there'd be a whole lot of "snipers" signed up who probably barely know their gun has a semi-auto function.

I will wait for an official response.

Your voices have been heard! Now lets see if you can walk the walk! Let's have some fun!
